Hey guys, I'm new to the forum but hardly new in the audio scene. I just picked up a 99 Explorer 4 door with the SOHC V6. I currently compete in my escort wagon and soon everything will be switched into the sploder. I'm curious if anyone one here has done any SPL caliber stereo installs in theirs? If so, what did it consist of? How well did it do?

the equipment is making it's way over from the escort wagon as i get time. It's 4 Sundown SA-12's, 2 Sundown SAZ-1500's, Mike Singer alt, Sudnown neo pro 8" mids (not sure how I'll make these fit in the EX.lol), alpine 4 channel, XS power d2700, Pioneer DEH-4200UB. To name the main things. In the escort It's done a 150.1 Legal and a 153.0 Outlaw both on ~2200 clamped watts. And both on my Termlab.

Gotta love the SA's right? So my buddy just had his metered "legal" today. I think he hit 142.7. It's a Mountaineer (98 I think) with 3 SA8's in a ported box. Amp is a Digital Designs MC1 (like 1700 watts?). Think the highest DB was at 48hz. He plans on building a "SPL" box soon :)

not bad at all for a full size car. I had 4 sa-8s too at one point. impressed the hell out of me

I'm thinking about a couple of the newest SA8's for an '03 X I just got. Hard to see how they could have improved that lil beast, but my buddy's ride certainly drew my attention to Sundown.

sundown is the shiz. Jacob is a great guy who is constantly making advancements for all of the industry

Yeah Jacob seems really involved with the community and is putting out great products. I know a lot of fills use his stuff for SPL, but I'm gonna look at some SQ options.
