Anybody mount lights to the top of their bumper, but not on a grill guard?

Hows it look? I just won a set of PIAA 540's, and a second set of smaller PIAA, which I gave away, but anyways, just wondering how it would look? I`m only going to have the car for about another 5 or 6 months, then I`m giving it to my parents when I move out of the country.

BTW, I just found out the lights I won are worth 170, and the ones I gave away are worth 145.

I think they look pretty good. I found this old picture from back in the day. Looks funny to me now being that small.

I had a set of Hella's on my 91 mounted like that on top. and 4 Hella fogs mounted underneath direct to the bumper. Works great and very solid mount.

We had a raffle at our squadron today, I had been doing tons of fundraising for it getting donations from companies. PIAA said they would donate something, but I never heard back from them. Today I found out they sent two sets of lights over, a 540 off road/driving lights, and a 004xt driving lights for a car. There was a guy who got a ticket picked before me so he got to choose his prize, either BOTH sets of lights, a grab bag, or a mystery bag. All of the bags are worth 45-75. Anyways he kept milling back and forth between the lights and a bag. I was next to pick a prize, I go come on, pick a prize. He goes, what do you want these. I go yeah, if you dont take them I will, I`ll put them on my explorer. Anyways he thinks about it for a second, lets me take them, and grabs a mystery bag. I felt kinda bad after he opened it, just cause I didnt think it was one of the better bags. There were some gift certificates for restaurants, a ornament from Griots Garage, some Griots Speed Shine, and a few T-shirts. One of the guys was kind of picking on him about the bag he picked, so I grabbed the car lights, and gave them to him. He was kind of shocked, he was like you dont want them? I go no, these are all I really wanted. I did some research on the internet tonight, I found out the lights I kept are selling for 170, and the ones I gave away are worth 145. Thats ok though, cause if he didnt pass them up, I would have never of gotten them. I know PIAA are good lights and expensive, but I didnt think they would have sent us that expensive of sets! How do you guys think it would look mounted to the center of the bumper on top on my 01 Ford explorer? Oh, and the raffle tickets, cost me 10 for 12 tickets. :D

Someone, cant remember who, made some brackets to mount lights on top of the bumper. The bracket made it possible to mount the lights and not drill a hole in the bumper. Searching may come up with the thred.
You got yourself some very nice lights. Luckeeee...

i ended up mounting a set of explorer procomps to our bumper. i'll see if i can get a pic tommorrow to post. unless i have one already.

Jefe made those brackets.

I had some Pilots, then Hella 500s on the bumper. Then I had some ProComp 6" lights mounted to a Lightwing front plate holder.

I looked at my truck today, was just wondering how you guys mounted it directly to the bumper, those of you that have a 94 and up? My 01, it looks like the bumper cover, covers up a boxed steel bumper. I hate to use super long bolts, any ideas?

Did you get a chance to look at the bracketsd Hokie made. Thos look like the best & easiest way to mount the lights. Also you can place the lights where they fit best. What I mean is there might not be enough room depth wise for the lights without the bracket.
If bumper bolts arnt handy the bracket could be sheet metal/lag screwed to the hollow portion.
