I just got me a new Autodiag in the mail today (paid the cabbage for it ) and Im playing around with it .
It works pretty good and I have been jerking codes and testing (for fun) with it . Only problem so far is I can't read ABS codes on either of my trucks (95 2 door and 96 4 door ) . It keeps telling me the vehicle is not in the correct state . I emailed Diagtek and Im waiting for them to email .... but does anybody knwo if there is something special that needs to be done before a ABS code/ test can be pulled ? I assumed it would just grab the code and Id be done but both vehicles say the same thing .....

The 1995 vehicle is an early OBD II system, before the govt required cars be OBD II compliant, and it's very possible that only a factory scanner can read those codes for that year. It's the same story for the 96.

I have a 1995 Town Car and use a professional OTC 4000 Enhanced Scanner. I can't read ABS on it either. I can read engine, suspension, Air bag and tranny...... but no ABS. :(

That will suck spending $250 for the Autodiag , and $80 for a Palm pilot to troubleshoot my trucks and yet Ill still be stuck taking it to the dealer for ABS ...............

My buddy stopped by with his 99 explorer , I checked his ABS (his light is actually on right now) and it worked fine ......... I fear Im stuck with a trip to Ford to get my ABS checked ...........

On a side note he has a "Battery Pack Voltage Out of Range" 9676 (B1676) code ..... anybody know what that is ?

Just got this from Diagtek , seems they have a issue with the 95-97 exploders (my luck I have the 95 & 95 :( )
ABS modules . Atleast they say they are working for a fix for it so sooner or later it may work . So far the Autodiag is a great tool for me (other than my ABS problems) . I hooked it to my buddies 99 and geeze there is alot of things you can monitor and play with .
If they fix this problem I have Id reccomend the tool for anybody woith a (some 95) 96 and up Ford vehicle . The other tools I lloked at (autoxray , etc.) were either too expensive or would not read anything other than PCM codes . Usless to me if I can't read ABS , SRS , GEM , and various other modules . Thus thing even lets me monitor voltages and speeds from different engine sensors .
Anyway , just a heads up for any of you guys considering buying a tool . If you have a 95-97 you may not get total functionallity , but for there up it is great .

We have looked into the issue you have described. Our engineers see that there is a problem with the ABS module on '95 to '97 Explorer. They are looking into a software fix for reading and clearing of codes and reading PIDs for this module. Unfortunately, there is not a workaround that we can suggest, but we will let you know when we have a fix available.

Also, the ABS module on these vehicles does not support the Self-Test function. You will see a "not supported" message if you run the self-test function for ABS. This is a limitation of the ABS module itself, rather than AutoDiag.

Thank you very much for letting us know about this problem. We will be in touch again when we have a fix for it.

Best regards,
The AutoDiag Support Team

Got a email from Diagtek today ,
They sent me a file to fix the issue with not being able to read the codes on my 95's ABS system . I installed the file and now I can retrieve the codes and delete them . I can't do the self tests or monitor sensors still but I may never be able to with the older system I have . I still have to check my 96 to see if it will read the sensors .
I give Diagtek Autodag thumbs up for jumping on the problem . Seems like great customer service so far for me . Will update the thread as more comes up .
