yeah so i was drivin down the road and didnt like the way my tranny was shifting so i manually put it in first and i accidently let it go up to about 6300+ RPM's because it was def over the 6 on my tach and nothing bad happened. just wondered if anyone else has done the same thing.

The true SOHC redline (where you're actually gonna start doing damage) is about 6400-6500. If you go up to 6300 every once in a while you're fine.

On my OHV, if you overrev it locked in first it will just shut off. I've had that happen a few times when wheeling.

Yes, 6300 is fine. With my SuperChip in my engine will rev to about where the 6500 mark would be if there were one. Mine usually sees 6500 5 or 6 times a week. 104K on my engine now and no loss of performance.

Yes, I think its safe to say that with motors that like to revv like ours, most of us have hit well over 6k rpms. It good for getting rid of carbon buildup.
