I have some Cipa 11960's I've been using with my '02, but the mirrow shape on the new XLT has a broad "rib" running down the back, so 11960's will no longer work.

I had a pair of Cipa 11952's laying around from a mis-order. Those are too tall, but it appears the style might work if you used the 11950's that are a bit shorter.

It would be really nice to have a molded set that would just slip over the mirror itself.

Anybody find anything?

In looking at the back of the mirrors, it appears you could mold something to fit the contour and it would help support the mirror as well as provide a flat mounting surface. I'd rather someone else did all the prototyping and I just bought the thing, but I could spend a day and do it, rubber back it to prevent scratching, etc.

I haven't. I've just been using the stock mirrors.

Stock mirrors work fine for me and I'm pulling a 21 footer! Now I say there are some small tricks to use in order for them to work as designed, but I haven't found a need or reason for extensions as I can manuevar w/o any problems...

Basic maneuvering is not the issue. Seeing clearly down the sides when backing, seeing clearly what is coming up on you, etc. is.

I've towed with my old Explorer with and without trailer mirrors. Can it be done? Sure. Is it a whole lot easier and safer with some extensions? You'd be amazed what you can see.

I call that the extension of my passenger, then I ask them to dismount and aid in what we like to call a GROUND GUIDE OPS. It's like real time accident prevention works all the time.
