I was just wondering what peoples experiences were with JVC products? I've always had Alpine, Sony and Kenwood head units. How does JVC compare when it comes to performance and reliability?

Thanks,
Pahelo

I've had 2 JVC's and loved them both, except for not having separate EQ adjustment for the subs.speakers. I believe the models are the AR-200 and the GD-400. the ar is in my sis's car and is decent i got it for like 119. + wiring and the GD i got off ebay for 142, and it plays mp3s flip down face LCD screen, and just looks better in my opinion.

I had a JVC HU as my first HU. It was OK, better than stock but worse than the Alpines and even Sony I owned. If you've owned Alpines before I don't think JVC would suit your needs.

i have one in my truck, no problems, although i am not the audio buff that some are, so it fits me needs

same, it does what i need for cheaper then most stuff, and as for husky saying sony is better....maybe if you bought the higher sony end stuff, but for price to prcie comparision JVC is better IMO.

I got nothing but love for my 2 JVC's, they both cost about $200 and they both have aux inputs on the front to plug in an mp3 player. They work great and have good specs. I also like the Kenwoods, they have good specs for the money too.

I have had JVC HUs in several trucks and boats. Never a problem; no complaints.

I currently have a JVC MP3 HU in my Explorer.

seems like what's pretty much the same opinion or what I'm getting is, if you want a quality HU and don't wanna dish out for Alpine or the other higher end HU's JVC's the way to go ;)

ehhh, I blew out some of their co-axials with one of their HU's.(I think the HU was rated at 35 or 40W) The HU itself was OK. After using several pioneers and a couple other brands, no way I'd go back to JVC.

I have the kd-sx980, been great for 2 years. Got it before I knew much about car audio. My next HU will be a higher end brand, but that won't come till this screws up, and it looks like it'll last a lot longer.

EDIT: Oh ya, when I took it apart to hard wire some RCA inputs (didn't want to get ripped off buying a PIE adapter) I broke a chunk out of the circuit bored , and after hours and hours of tracing and re soldering the tiny circuits (on a double sided circuit board), it still works, amazed the hell out of me :D , and now I've got some free RCA inputs.

I had a jvc, one of the chamelon ones that the face turned all black when it was shut off. Worked for about a year then the face went dead! $300 down the drain!!

I like the JVC products. I have had nothing but JVC for several years. I currently run the KD-G800. It is great. 4 volt preouts, separate sub control, 3-Band Parametric iEQ - Sirrius compatable, Plays MP3/CD/CD-R/CD-RW
take a look here to see all the features.
Paid around $250 canadian for it.

My entire home entertainment system is also JVC.....

Both my brother and I have JVC HUs in our X's, the models we have play all forms of media, CD, CD-RW, MP3 and my brother's also plays WMA files too, they are a good product and reasonably priced
