heres a link ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33710&item=2430087304 )

I bought them after doing alot of research and understod that they plug into the stock glass houseing and just need to have the new wireing harness hooked up and i should be ready to go. well i got it in the mail and notcied that the blubs are freaking big. now i know i could just try to install them to find out but i don't feel like taking out my battery and everything. Thats why im posting here. in the hopes that someone out there has the same item. Please post your thoughts and any experience you might have on the matter. thanks alot.

ps. if you look at the blubs that are out side the box they seem to have the plastic base like the stock bulbs do. but if you look in the box there arethe ones with the metal base (which is what i recived) any ideas folks?

by the looks of that, that isnt real HID!!! i wouldnt use those in any vehicle of mine.... they took a big bulb and found a way to manipulate it with relays to emit more power than it should, i dont think stock wiring will be able to handle that!!!!!!!

jim, yeah im fully aware of the fact that they are not true hid. i just wanted to try them, i think anything might be better then my stocks.

will they bolt into their harness? maybe they sent you the wrong ones? it is commonplace for a seller to have many items for sale and ship out the wrong one.....

I hate to say this, but an H4 bulb won't fit in an explorer. The Explorer uses a 9007 bulb. You would have to change the entire light housing to some kind of housing that accepts an H4 bulb. I'm pretty sure a conversion kit for the explorer doesn't exist.

CONVERSION FOR X's!

CONVERSION KIT, THE REAL HID KIT DOES EXISTS! IF YOU LOOK IT UP OR ASK ANY SHOP THEY DO HAVE A 9007 CONERSION KIT WHICH FITS OUR XS! price differs on what brand you want

personally, i would've just tried silverstars or (my fave) the APC SuperWhites......i will never use another bulb, i love my APC's.

the kit that you bought will fit the housing of the X. thats a 9007 the bulb is big because it discharges more energy so it is brighter. go ahead and install them and let us know how it went.

I know that a 9007 kit exists. What I meant was there isn't an H4 conversion kit available for the explorer. In other words, a headlight replacement that would allow a H4 bulb to fit in the housing. You can get an HID 9007 online.

What you would need would be the european spec Explorer headlamps, from a Right-Hand rule of road country such as Germany.

I'm working on tha now - we'll see what the results are.

In any case, it's a fluted lense, but a different design.

If you read the eBay ad correctly, there just plain halogen high power lights encapsulated in a blue glass dome.

"Two specially designed halogen bulbs are provided which has air vents to help dissipate heat from the halogen bulbs therefore prolonging the usable life of the bulbs"

Regular high power Hella 9007 bulbs would work better.
