I'm looking for an exhaust for the wifes X, I see that Dynomax makes a cat back for her 96 5.0L and Jegs sells it for like $209. It is supposed to bolt right in place of the stock exhaust. I was wondering if anyone has this system, and how does it sound?? I've always been partial to Flowmasters, but I knew a guy that had a 78 Bronco and he had dual Dynomax Super Turbos on it and boy did that truck RUMBLE!! Thanks for any help!!

I've got one on mine and it sounds pretty good. I get lots of complements. When it arrived, my wife asked what was in the box and I told her "gas mileage." After it was in, she said that I just made it noisy. Really it's not to bad except at about 2000 rpm there seems to be a resonance. Compared to my 440 Dodge w/ dual 2 1/2's, it purrs.

Getting the stock system out is a little bit of a pain if you do it in one piece, but the install goes very well. every thing lines up and fits great.

Check Summit on the price and shipping.

thanks for the info!! thats probably the system I'll get for my wifes x, there is an exhaust leak now somewhere in the stock system, so I guess it's rusting and only a matter of time before it gets worse and she'll need a new exhaust.

I guess nobody else here has the Dynomax system, is there anyone else with some input on it??

The thing i dont like about Dynomax is that they dont make a stainless system. I plan on keeping my explorer for a while so it only makes sence to get something that lasts.

I used to get exhuast systems from Midas when i had my Mustang and they seemed to rust out pretty quickly. So now i wont get anything unless it is stainless.

I'm still thinking about one for mine whenever I get a full-time job, but I can only wish. I found someone who had one on his '97 Explorer V8, and I like that I could tell that it was an exhaust, but it wasn't much louder than stock like I'm afraid a Flowmaster (even Delta 50) might be. Then again, I haven't heard a V8 Explorer or Mountaineer with a Delta 50 & 2 1/2" single outlet pipe yet.
