Anyone Know How to Remove the Chrome Tailgate Trim Piece?

I see there are 4 bolts...so I removed them, but it doesn't seem to want to come off too easily. I know there are wires attached, but it seems more complicated than that. Anyone know any tricks to getting it off? I want to paint it.

I think you are referring the licence plate lamp holder. there is a hole in the centre which is push in clip. the wires are for the lamp and you're window latch release. the lamps have a clip on the bottom which push in and release. don't break the plate and are $223.33 and recycling yards will not sell it separate. You will have to buy the whole tailgate.

Thanks for the info, though I did finally figure it out myself with no broken pieces.
