i just did it today, and it turned out to be a pain in the ass.... first off your going to have to drain your coolant system, so be prepared with more antifreeze.... the bolts on the tstat housing are a PITA as well to remove, much worse to get on. also, make sure you have gasket paste, as the tstat has a tendency to slip around a bit, making it difficult to bolt it on. all in all, it took me a good hour and a half, 2 hours to complete this (several trips to hardware and autopart stores), just want anyone attempting this to be appraised, if anyone has any helpful hints, please let them be known, good luck to all.
