Anyone Use Bosch plugs?

Im about to change my plugs and wires. The only local place i can find Motorcraft plugs is at my local dealer and they are asking 7.99 each for them, I found single platinum Bosch plugs at Auto zone for 3.99 just wondering if anyone has had any experiances with them.

If you cannot find Motorcraft, look for Autolite.

As a tech of 33 years, I have seen nothing but problems with Bosch plugs. I have yet to find an explanation or reason, but especially in Fords they are not the right choice.

BTW, thanks for asking BEFORE buying. I would even suggest Champion over Bosch, and I never use Champion!

Eh, I've used Bosch in several flavors in many different fords of various years and never had any issues.

I would continue to use them, but just sorta migrated over to NGK plugs because I have better access to them right now. Theres nothing wrong with Autolite either.. never had any plug related problems.

8 or so vehicles, from 78 through 05. Dozens of plug changes. I used to change them and try something new when I got bored. If you can name a brand and style plug, I've probably used it. Even Splitfire. (don't laugh, they were given to me)

Except champion. I've never used Champion anything. Some weird thing. I don't know.

ive had problems with nosch plugs in the past, your best bet is to stick with motorcraft or if u cant get those use autolite...

I have not heard any good things about bosch plugs, only bad. I have heard that in some cases they have actually harmed engines.

Avoid Bosch plugs like the plague. Like Al mentioned, Autolite plugs are fine, and readily available. In fact, this is the company that makes Motorcraft plugs, so the only real difference is the name painted on the outside of them.

I won't use Champion plugs in anything but Chrysler products, and that's the only plugs they get. Lots of Mopars won't run right on anything else, for some strange reason.

Standard copper core Bosch plugs might be ok in a BMW or Volkswagen, but I definitely wouldn't use them in a domestic vehicle. Even in the European cars, the gimmicky Bosch platinums aren't recommended. Those are just flat out garbage. Better than half of our winter no-starts that come in to the shop have those pieces of trash in them.

For wires, definitely don't go cheap. I'd strongly recommend genuine Motorcraft replacement wires. Lots of junk out there in the aftermarket. If you do go to an aftermarket source, get a premium set from NAPA or Carquest. They're designed to meet OEM specs, whereas a lot of the wire sets (including the Autolite brand at Advance Auto Parts) at "discount" parts stores are not.

I think Cornburner is 100% correct. I have been down the bosch road as well, nothing but problems. Same goes for cheap wires, the say "custom fit" or "oe style" but they are never the correct length and they dont last long.

In my opinion, if your going to keep your truck for any length of time invest in Motorcraft plugs and good wires.

This discussion comes up routinely and the subject defaults to putting Bocsh plugs into a perfectly good engine. Bocsh are garbage in Ford engines, John Deere lawn mowers, Artic Cat four wheelers and Yamaha outboard motors. Experience talking... My opinion is that they are junk. Now using Motorcraft or Autolites for both of my Ford engines and NGK for all the rest.

The last time this came up I told how I wouldn't use Bocsh plugs to throw at stray dogs.... I'm still feeling that...
