Does anyone have a non-lowered Explorer with 17 inch Cobra's? I'm worried that the gap will be too large if I get Cobra's and don't do any lowering, so any pics would be great :-).

Hey...I do. Check the link to my home page at the bottom of my message. I hate how high the front of my truck looks compared to how low the rear looks...I definately need to lower the front anyway.

Did the truck just level out that way when you put the Cobra's on, or have you not gotten around to lowering the front yet?

That's actually how the truck has sat since I've had it. It was my dad's before, I don't remember if it came like that new or not. The Cobra's didn't change it's stance at all...except a little bit wider.

Oh, that's unfortunate. I'm just concerned about how much space there is going to be if I put Cobras on with small tires. Have you had any problems with them so far?

hartman, were you planning on lowering your truck too? a lot of guys with the cobra r's have lowered trucks, which will kill the wheel well gap; nothing drastic, just the 1 3/4" drop from explorer express. if you wanna check out pics, do a search for "cobra r" and click some links in some of the guys' sigs, or, one off the top of my head is 98greyxlt - hes gotta a helluva nice truck - cobra r's and the explorer express lowering kit.

I do plan on getting the Express lowering kit, but not right away. I just don't want my truck to look stupid in between getting Cobras and the lowering kit. By the way, how difficult to install is the lowering kit?

Also, how in the world did Mike Coates achieve a 5 inch drop? It's puzzling to me...

well, ive never installed the EE lowering kit, but from what i hear, its pretty easy to install if you have some mechanical ability. i think up front, you just crank down the torsion bars, and in the rear, you use lowering blocks.

i have no idea what that guy did to get 5" of drop - i dont even know if the suspensions are the same or not on the new sports.

I have had no problems at all. I love the wheels, I love the way it handles and I can't wait to get the lowering kit.
