I've been looking into doing some performance mods, and I just want to know which of the following things are available for a 4.0 SOHC:

BBK Throttle body
TB spacer (brand?)
Granatelli MAF
New Ignition kit (Performance Distributors Firepower Ignition kit?)

Also, I'm wondering what mods (if any) other than these, an apten chip, KKM, and exhaust would be good to look into.

I am no expert, but I do know that many people have not been happy with the throttle body spacers. I have heard them refered to as a really expensive Tornado. Just what I have heard.

Tornado? I think I saw one of these today. Is it a piece of circular metal with little blades in it? It was $80, I dont know what it is, but it looked like a rip off for just a little peice of sheet metal....

The tornados are a rip off. They do nothing for power. I heard that the TB spacers do nothing as well. I don't know for fact, just going on what I was told.

bump

Of that list, the only thing that may help at this point is the MAS.

TB isn't available
TB spacer lightens your wallet
the Ford ignition system is more than adequate.

I use a TB spacer. Not sure if it improved power, but it did improve gas mileage.

So maybe I'll do the MAS after I get done with the intake/exhaust and chip. Thanks.

from everything ive ever read about the TB spacers they are made for increased gas milage not power. but they do help my neighbor has one

Out of curiosity, why does BBK make a TB for the OHV but not the SOHC?

The BBK TB is 66mm. The SOHC stocker is 65mm. And the intake manifolds (mounting) are fairly different.

The OHV stocker is 58mm.
