It is time to mount the ARB compressor. People who have mounted these let me know where in the world you installed them please. Any help or ideas would be great !

How about where the stock jack went? You proably dont need it any more and the compressor should fit in there nicely.

That's where I've got my QuickAir compressor mounted. I had to pull out the rear window washer resevor for room but I never used it anyways. I'd guess you'd have to do the same to mount the ARB compressor there too. I really like that I was able use space that I wasn't using, but I'm not too sure if I'd do it again. The noise makes it hard to keep it running while I'm driving so I only use it when I need it. If you are only going to use it for the lockers or don't mind the noise I'd say go for it. If not I'd say mount it above the spare tire carrior. There's enough room for the compressor and a tank if you wish. If removing the compressor were easier where I've got it now I'd move mine there, but with the compressor and tank all installed I'll leave it there. Give me a yell if you want some pics

I would suggest the QuickAir compressor over the ARB one. You'll spend bit more money, but you'll get better quality. I've went ahead and installed there tank to help run air tools on the trail. The tank holds enough air to remove a tire with an impact wrench(just loosen the bolts first).

Thanks, Mike & Lee!
We will most likely be using it only for the locker & airing back up when heading home. Do you know how often the compressor will run when using the locker? If it will run on standby it may be too much time ON when driving. With the mud and water at times on our trails it still may be the best place for it. Let me know while i go scope it out!

I don't have one yet, but I was thinking of building a box were my old spare tire was and mounting it there with a tank.
You would have to make the box so it can take a good hit from a rock if ever hit.
Like Leebo said, I don't think I would like the noise in the cab with me. I heard his run and it is loud.
I know Guy had his in the engine compartment on the drivers side which seemed to work, but it was tight also.

Good luck

Perry......I was talking to Tom Davis and he made me go look ABOVE where the spare tire would be mounted. There's a good 6' there, plenty of room for a compressor and maybe a tank(with enough bending). You wouldn't really need a box to protect it due to the fact that it's so high up that you'd be hitting other more expensive items before youd get to the tanks. I've been thinking about running another tank down there to help with tools(can't get a real compressor living in apartments....so I gotta make due) and letting it feed into the main tank in the cab. That way I'd be running two 5gallon tanks at 105psi at all times.

Steve...as long as the pressure switch and all the lines are in good shape the compressor should seldom turn on. The only time it will kick on is when you lose a certain amount of air in the lines the compressor will turn on for a few seconds to charge back up the lines. For me to fill a 5gallon tank to 105psi it runs about 2 minutes, so I'd guess it would run maybe 30 seconds tops(Don't know for sure...don't have lockers) to get the lockers with enough psi to engauge.

I found it!
We will be installing the Compressor under the hood behind the driver's side headlight & in front of the washer fluid. I might go to the bone yard and get a smaller washer / coolant tank set up for more room. The ARB comp. does fit so long as your fact. jack handle is removed. Thanks for the heads up Leebo, & Perry. As far as running tools go i will soon be retro fitting my York compressor on my 78'Bronco with a 5gallon tank maybe two! Maybe down the road i was thinking of using nerf bars and welding the ends for air tanks on the X, Just don't drive with them full, OUUCH, what a blast. :' ) She(the other half) wants the compressor installed before Broncofest in July so iv'e got a little time, But this project has been fun seeing it come together. I wished you guys could make it!
