This Explorer is actually for my son.
It has a million miles and lots of rust.

I noticed the back sagged a bit, so I checked out the rear and noticed it has air shocks. Is that stock? Sure looks like they've been there for awhile.

If I replace these, do I replace with another set of air shocks?

Kind of afraid of replacing anything on there... to much rust. You should see the spare tire. Yea... That's not ever coming off.

Thanks,
Dave.

Limiteds have air shocks. You can replace with normal shocks, but the Monroe Coilovers are a great upgrade.

What's the price of those?
This is a $800.00 car here. :)

I've seen some pretty salt eaten spare tires come off with a wee bit of effort, the winch doodad that holds them up there seem to function for eons.

Unlike Chev's that just rot and fall off :D

Be sure to check the rear leaf spring shackles. The one I got for my son has them about eatten through.

The shackles themselves or the frame itself that the shackles are mounted too?

One nice thing about trucks is that you don't have to jack them up to see underneath them!

Well if bad rust I'd check both but the shackles at the very back that attach the leaf springs to the frame. Mine have holes in them that aren't stock. hahaha
