I'm wondering if anyone has tried a "cheap" chip. I've seen several E-Bay Suppliers claim to give 30 horsepower and 20-25ft/lbs of torque with a 25-30 dollar chip. They are self contained, plug into existing wiring, and "enhance" the ECU settings.:eek::rolleyes:

been asked before in other posts million times dont buy them save up for a good one

From my understanding, they are simply a resistor the goes inline from the MAF sensor. It's giving the computer a false reading, so it dumps more fuel into the motor, and in turn, changes the A/F ratio, and it could damage your plugs, and more importantly your cat's....as unburnt fuel will go in there, burn IN the cat, melting the platinum/ceramic block, and ruining it.

Good luck!

some of those "chip" sellers on FleaBay have a lot of dissatisfied customers. I know it takes some time but checkout the feedback of the sellers. some of the "satisfied" buyers are loons who never even used the so-called chip, yet they gave a glowing, positive feedback.

this "angry" old man only gives positive feedback if it's justified...

I agree - a general rule I have learned - if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. I would steer clear of these chips.

i'm not sure what you guys are talking about! They are good!

Well what i mean is that they buying those chips is a good way to waste $$ lol
save your money and get an Xcal later on

This inline resistor goes in series with the engine coolant temperature sensor to trick the PCM into thinking that it's detecting a cold engine. It makes the mixture rich to compensate. It will cause you to have lower gas mileage as a result. This chart will give you a better understanding of how the ECT works:

A mixture which is too dense will flood the engine.
