Hi. I am wondering if neon lights (interior and exterior) are legal in Myrtle Beach, SC. I think it would be awesome to put neon on my white explorer.

Dude you can get away with a lot at the beach... NEONS ARE LEGAL, BUT THE COLOR BLUE IS ILLEGAL.. cops down here dont like them too much. Systems are ok, but they will be more than happy to write you a ticket if you keep it blaring, especially if they are standing beside you in the middle of the road.... also if you dont know, these cops will stand in the middle of the strip and check for seat belts and all that good stuff. anyways, man you better get down there before labor day.... last day to get all the good honeys before school starts back!

and most importantly... DONT FORGET TO TAKE A TON OF BEADS FOR THE GIRLS!! :p :D

yes.... except.. be careful that you're tubes do not show from any angle, interior is fine, but I got pulled near charleston last summer cos they said my rear tube was visible.. ( I think the cop was just bored.. let me off wiht a warning)

btw I have blue.. and he didn't say a word about the color.. i've had blue here in GA for 4 years.. I dont think the color matters as long as it doesn't strobe or pulse and the light source is not visible.

What do you mean you cant show any tubes from any angle? Where would I mount them so you couldnt see the tube? I have an XLT and I wouldnt even know where to mount them so you couldnt see em

dude trust me.. be careful with the blues... i had them and i got a $500 ticket. and they dont let you off tickets in myrtle beach.. believe me, i know because i went to school there for 2 years before transferring to clemson univ. and ive lived in sc all my life. anyways, dont worry bout the cops.. theyll let you have a good time as long as your smart about it. have fun man!

Where did you go to school. I go to Coastal Carolina and I noticed how many people have neons and I wanted to get some to because they look so cool. What I really want to know is, if they are legal and is blue the only restriction. Thanks for the help.

i went to coastal for 2 years back in 97-98 playin baseball. then i transferred to clemson to play and messed up my knees, then i went in the military and now im back at clemson. anyways back to the subject. blue is the only one that is illegal because the cops dont want anything looking like cops. anyways they wont say anything to you so dont worry about it... if you got white, green is a cool color not too many people in sc have... alot of red and purple..

wow ur laws suck for neons, where i am the only illegal neon is the license plate surround ones. any toher neon, any colour is legal. but then again we dont have the snatch that myrtle beach has....dam!

yea the license plate neons are illegal too... good thing im coming home this week because on friday i plan on being down there... if you see a 93 black corvette, that will be me... and if im lucky ill have a couple of girls in there too! god i love the beach!

well, I guess it depends on the cop, and the state.. to me, if you think blue underbody neon is a cop you DONT NEED TO BE ON THE ROAD COS YOU'RE BLIND AS A BAT! :P but thats just me..

Here in GA the only law about neon is that it can't strobe and the tubes can't be visible.

if you have runningboards, use themn to block the tubes from visibility, also, push the spare tire as far forward as it can go and run the tube between it and the bumper, just becareful when working around it or shops WILL break the rear tube.

theres nothing here about license plate neon, interior neon or those little LED washer things. the stuffs everyhwere, you just can't do something crazy like roll down the street with strobes.

im in sc and i havent had any problems w/ the cops concerning my green underbody neons... although i have been pulled over like 5 times for violating the "noise ordinance" or some crap like that .... anyways, that last time they stung me with a $425 ticket.... so i havent gotten a ticket for that since... i learned my lesson :/. i also got pulled over for my altezza taillights by a freakin state trooper... i tried to tell him they had a SAE/DOT stamp on them and he grilled me even more... what a d!ck

uh, if you have DOT lenses with DOT bulbs in them.. ther e is no argument, he can yell and scream till hes blue in the face, the lenses are legal......

MUST BE NICE for a company to actually make your altezzas instead of just say they are and never make them......ok enough of that rant....

noise ordinance eh? lol, well I know what thats like, but I keep my system down at redlights/schools/residents and any time anyone is in my car. My stereo only gets turned up when I'm driving alone, and only loud when I'm in a good mood, lol, so you can bet it doesn't get must blasting time in.
