I have looked everywhere and cannot find any cold air-intakes. I heard this is the best way to increase HP and gas mileage outside of better driving habits.
I also heard that custom exhaust is also the best way to get more. I have a 4.0L engine that is of course a 6 cylinder. I love the truck but the mileage needs to be a little better. Any suggestions? I drive carefully - do not take off fast, etc. and I just got the vehicle last week.

I have not seen any for the V6 either. An exhaust and tuner will get you the best mpg improvement, but it will never be great. I have an exhaust and a K&N replacement filter, it helped some and I figured I spent enough money. A tuner would be another $350 or so and you've got to ask how long until you save that in gas?

I was just thinking of asking the same question! Plenty out there for the V-8, but no love for the V-6.

I can answer this question now! I took my vehicle to my mechanic and he said that it comes without a cold air intake system from the factory. The air intake to the filter doesn't have a noise suppressor or other curved tubing that has limiting air flowing results like so many vehicles that come from the factory with. He also said that he would use a K&N filter and it should help a little on the HWY, but not in the city that much. So, bummer on the cold air intake.

I asked how to get better MPG and he said - like I have read on here.. Driving habits, synthetic oils, and also a better breathing air filter. Exhaust systems could give a little better gas mileage but not enough to invest so much money into it unless I wanted to hear more power than earn. I am a computer tech, not a mechanic... so I hope that I explained this well.

I have to add there is little to purchase for the V8 as well. But damn they are great to drive. :p:

I put on a cat-back exhaust and picked up a solid 2 mpg highway, 3 mpg if I don't go too fast. It didn't make any difference in city mpg.

I am dropping a Gibson Cat-Back system on there, probably next week. Looking forward to that. I was thinking of doing some tuning as well, but we'll see. Still up in the air on that.

One problem is they made so few adrenalin's only 6000 for 08 that cuts down on aftermarket.

Intakes are just a bunch of tubes, clamps and a filter. Make your own. Lots of people on the site have tried, succeeded and saved money in the process. Lots of examples in the archives.

Exhaust is good too and works well with an air intake mod. Tie it together with some custom tuning and you should be pleased. Might be able to program for mileage too.

Your best mileage mod is still your right foot. Drive like you've got an egg underfoot. Unfortunately, I like my eggs scrambled, so my mileage will never be as good as it could be. :D
