I right we all know that the Explorer tranny suck
I had mine replaced at 116,000K
Now the damm I think the damm transfer case is making a whizzing noise and clumking in and out and I'm not even engaging the 4x4. What the best way to solve this murder mystery.
And a brand new installed is 1500.00
I done have that kind of cash (green backs) sitting around. Do you guys have and suggetions and or
if anyone has one sitting around and its good are they willing to part with their beloved transfer case.

you could always take it out and rebuild it. Find the parts inside it that are bad and replace them. Or it could be the transfercase motor. Just an idea.

If I was you I would have the tranny looked at again. The transfer case is just a gearbox nothing should be jumping in and out. if it was the transfer case and one of your shift forks broke you would jump into neutral and probably stay there. Meaning your truck wouldn't go anywhere and when you put it in park it would roll.

Oh yeh! 115,000 thats pretty good....try 68,000.

tcase

Yeah man, mine does the same thing. I have a 91 EB. A mechanic friend told me to put it in reverse in a parking lot and drive it in reverse for awhile. That did it! It worked.

He wouldn't explain though. I'm assuming that it is not the Tcase and is probably the auto hubs that I have scewing up or if not that, the front u-joints are catching somehow.
