Hello!

Does anyone have pictures of where and how the running boards attach on an Explorer (1998)?

I have a task to make running boards from a 2004 Lincoln Navigator to fit on a 1998 Explorer

I should be able to get the pics for your tomorrow if you remember. Its a 1996 XLT EX AWD x8

Its raining so im gunna have to delay it a couple days. Lets count on saturday. Sorry :(

I can try and explain it through txt I guess.

There are 7-8 brackets, those brackets are mounted on by 4 bolts 2 on the running board and 2 that go through the pinch weld, they are probably 1/2 inch wide bolts.

Hope that helps a little.

The pinch weld is where the bolts are installed? Example picture

Will the running boards be strong enough to step on when they're attached at the pinch weld?

Pinch weld holes + 4 threaded holes about 8 cm above the pinch weld and the running board was attached.

Thank you for your help! :)

Awesome. Thats better than the stock setup.
