I have a 96 limited that has a memory driver's seat, but I don't have the owners manual.

I have tried several different ways to prgram the seat, but nothing works.

Does anyone know the proper prodcedure for prgramming the memory seat?

thanks,

Andrew

Hit the set button so the light glows, and then hit the position you want to set.

Thats all there is to it. Also, setting 1 will correspond with key remote number 1 etc. So, if you're driver one and you have key remote 1, when you unlock the door with the remote your seat setting will come up. If your wife etc is #2 and uses remote #2 the same will happen. Really smart and it surprises me that other companies dont do it that way.

I'll try that.

Sometimes when I get in my explorer, the seat settings numbers are flashing.

if you press the "1" or "2" seat button, should it move the driver's seat to the memory position you set?

thanks,

Andrew

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the memory settings only work with the key remotes -- that is to say pushing the memory button will not return the seat to its memorized position. Only the remote will do this.

It is a graet feature, though if I let anyone else drive, it messes with their mind that they can't keep the seat adjusted. Every time they unlock the door, the seat returns to MY setting.

My mom's Chrysler Town & Country minivan has that same feature. Very cool...

On 1993 Limiteds (don't know about '94s) there is no tie-in with the remote entry control and the memory seats. The only way to move the seat to a memory position is to push the 1 or 2 button corresponding to the desired setting. You set the button by pressing the set button, and then the 1 or 2 button with the seat in the position you want to memorize.

The seat should tract by simply hitting the 1 or 2 on the door. This should also work with the corresponding remote. I'm not sure I think it willo go to the radio station and the desired volume by pressing 1 or 2 also.

Yep, pressing 1 or 2 will activate the seat. Be sure your foot isnt on the brake, and that the vehicle is in park or the memory seats wont work.

All they do on the Explorer is the seat unfortunately. On my Lexus they do the seat/mirrors/radio station/temperature/seat belt anchor height. But they dont correspond to the remote. Give and take I guess lol.

does the car ned to on or off when I try programming the seat?

I am wondering if there is a problem with seat. if I press the button to move the driver's seat forward or backward, the seat will only move about 2 inches and then stop. I have to let go of the button and push it again. Each time I push it, the seat only moves about 2 inches. This is really an annoyance when I am moving the seat back into position after my girlfriend has been driving.

Is this normal?

thanks,

Andrew

Nope it doesnt need to be off. Hmm, are you sure you arent hitting the brake when this happens?

Does the power seat work normally at all other times?

All the funstions of the power seat work normally, except the forward and backward movement.

My 91 has a memory position seat too....

No one drives it but me, so the seat always stays in the #1 position! Dead Link Removed

Pictures?

Quad Cam,
Do you have any pictures of your Explorer and Mustang I would love to see them? Do you have a NO2 kit in the truck, thats great. Let me know I have the exact model and year as you maybe you can help me decide which mods should come first.
Thanks,
Haxaw

Thats the problem then. Make sure nothing is impeding the track movement etc. Thing is, when it quits going forward backward, you just hit the button again. The computer stops the memory seat program totally when it encounters resistance.
