I want to hear from those who have these lockers. Are these a good or bad thing to spend my $$$ on? Are they invisible when driving around town unlocked? Do they lock up like a spool when locked? I'm going to running 33's and possibly 35's in the future. I hate buying things twice so please give any feedback positive or negative. Thanks.

Okay, if you don't have one tell me what you've heard.
I've got money burning a hole in my pocket and I need to order lockers asap.:D

I was looking into gears etc for my 95 and saw that Randy's R&P lists the Auburn ected for the D-35 front that is in the Explorer. Whether or not it is actually for the explorer is anyone guess.

Thanks for the replies, I ended up ordering Ected's and 4.88's thru Reider Racing. I've heard a lot of different opinions on the Ected's and decided that for the wheeling I do, I think they will be just fine.

:D Most of what I've heard is very positive...

But, in the off-road industry, tried and true gets all the press. People are somewhat afraid of new technology, especially those on a limited budget.

Let us know how it installs and performs!

I know that I was doing quite a search for a good all-around front axle solution myself, and ended up with the Detroit Tru-Track. It works all the time - no plates or on/off switching, but it does take a press of the brake pedal to get it to engage. Time will tell. If I don't like it, it will sell...

Time for an update. I got the gears and lockers installed a couple of months ago with the bulk of the miles being break-in miles as well as winter driving. My first impression is that the limited slip is very tight, it hooks up as soon as you hit the skinny pedal not at all like my wifes '04 F150. Actually the limited slips perform so great that you can't tell the difference between locked and unlocked until you get stuck. I finally got a chance to really test it out this past weekend and the guy I went with in his YJ had the identical tires as myself with an aussie locker in his rear and was stuck and winching numerous times and I didn't even need to lock mine. At this point I would have no problems recommending an Ected.
