G'day All
Hopefully you may be able to help. Will try to keep it brief.
Vehicle - UR Explorer - 95000 km. Around 2000 km ago a problem started with a sluggish change from 2nd to 3rd gear.
Engine would rev up by about 500+ revs (depending on the acceleration) as it tried to change from 2nd to 3rd.
Booked the car in for a gearbox service to see if they could find the problem, but over the weekend the problem disappeared. Service showed no abnormalities.
3 weeks later problem re-occurred. - went to Ford Dealer in Townsville who ran diagnostics test which showed no error codes.
They diagnosed burnt out clutches, so I had the gearbox reconditioned by a reputable expert (at a cost ofA$3.5k).
That was 2000k ago and now the problem has re-occured. (If I start off in 2nd and change manually to 3rd, it works OK)
I see in a previous thread a referance to "leaking valve body (Main control) gaskets, or an Electronic Pressure Control Solenoid that is getting tired" but that seemed to be for an earlier model.
I really would br grateful for any advice.
Thanks
Don
