Auto Locking Hubs

I have a 91 Explorer Sport with the auto locking hubs, and as everyone knows they can be a pain.(I don't want to switch to manual as that defeats the push button 4X4). I have rebuilt a few in the past but have always had to "fix" the actuating stationary cam by welding it up and grinding it to the proper shape, which of course doesn't last long because it's not hardend.
Does anyone know if it is possible to buy new cams and the plastic rotating sleeve?? I know the dealer doesn't sell them and I don't think WARN will either. I don't want the whole hub, just the parts that wear out.
There must be someone by now that has a line on how to get them.

I would be inclined to argue with you on this point. Which is more of a pain: 1) Frequently rebuilding the auto hubs, only to have them break 30 miles from the nearest paved road, or 2) Stopping and getting out to lock the hubs. The other thing to remember about manual hubs is that, with a little foresight, you can lock the hubs before you leave the camp/driveway/gas station and then use the switch to lock the t-case when you get to the trail or otherwise need the 4WD.

Since you said you don't want to go with the manual hubs. I would goto www.fordpartsnetwork.com and email your question, a guy named Torrie will answer, he's a really good guy to work with. Tell him what you need, i'd be willing to bet (from past questions concerning auto hubs) he could get the part you want.

Also even if you didnt have pushbutton 4x4 and you had the manual lock hubs you would still have to engage the t case with a stick or else having unlocking hubs would be pointless alltogether because your t case would always be engaged, so really the only difference between the auto button and having a stick with manuel hubs is it would be easyer to engage the t case

Yes, Kris is still selling. I gave him my Auto hubs when I switched to Manuals.
