Automatic Gear Indicator

My automatic (on the column) shift indicator has slipped by on position. In Park it indicates Reverse. In R it indicates N. In N it indicates D and so on.... Does anyone know how to fix this problem. My wife is driving me crazy !!!!:eek:
 






There is a thumbwheel to help align it under the dash (follow the cable) or something is out of alignment at the trans...
