I installed a autometer oil pressure gauge on my sohc... At start up its arond 45-50 psi at a cold idle.... Warm idle is around 20 psi and cruising over 2000 rpm around 40-45... Does this sound right.. and why does the oil pressure reach its highest psi at 1800-2000 rpm.. What does ya'lls read?

Thanks,
Jamie

Sounds about perfect to me.

The oil pump is probably designed to create the most pressure right at your average cruising RPM, not sure on that one but it makes sense.

sounds just like my readings

Cool thanks guys!

i would worry if it goes below 10psi at idle , 40+ in cruise is perfect to me .

Your low oil pressure at idle is caused by worn main bearing .
