I am just trying to be 100% positive before I install an aux tranny filter. How do I know if the box in front of my radiator is a aux tranny cooler or if it is the ac condencer? I am pretty sure it is the aux tranny just want to be sure.
Thanx
Blake:rolleyes:

Trave the lines that go to this "mystry cooler"; that should identify it in short order.

Goos luck.....

What does an aux cooler look like?
(Trace?sp)

The factory aux. tranny cooler is pretty small. If you are looking at the front of the grille, you should see two metal lines coming from underneath your engine, ending at two rubber hoses that run up behind your grille, and into the small rectangle. I replaced my stock one with one from Summit Racing, talk about high quality! Their cooler passes through the fins six times and is all aluminum. I was impressed :D

Did you check tranny temp with the factiry cooler and then with the aftermarket cooler?

Thanks.....

Yup I have the factory one, how much was the Summitt? Enough of a difference to be worthe the extra cash?

I know that the aftermarket tranny coolers can be had in sizes much larger than the factory cooler, I still wonder if they allow a cooler operation of the tranny than the factory one, or is the factory cooler optimally sized>

Thoughts.....

The Summit cooler was like $40, but it came with hose, hose clamps, cooler mounts, an extra fitting, and foam pads to keep it from rubbing. I did not check the temp before and after, I wish I had though, I am interested in seeing how much of a difference it made.

I got the B&M from summit, it was a pain to install because the lines didnt match up. I'm planning to install a digital temp guage to measure it according to fords guidlines in the owners manual.

I would like to get a temp gauge and the aux. tranny filter also. But I just paid for a bumper, it will have to wait!
