Availability of 2016 Explorer

I have a couple of questions about the upcoming 2016 Explorer. I'm going to be buying one and I was wondering when the order banks open up. Secondly is the V6 engine and six speed transmission the same as the ones in the current generation Explorers? I'm hoping they are. Thank you, Don.

Ordering started on Feb. 2nd for the 2016's. Same V-6 and trans. as you
mentioned. Otherwise a new 2.3 Ecoboost, and Platinum model.

You can build your own on the Ford site. Production starts May 4th.

There is a large thread about the new 2016. Maybe someone will post a link
to it.
Main changes, to exterior, Hood, headlamps, grille fenders, etc.

My only suggestion is to definitely get the tow package (standard with the Sport) even if you don't necessarily intend to tow anything. The beefed up transmission is with the price of entry.

Thanks Truckguy7 and Rubberhead, I'll have to check that out at my dealer. I'm glad they have the same V6 engine and transmission. I didn't think you could order a 2016 so soon. Basically I'll test drive a 2015 with the same engine/tranny combo I want, and then probably order a 2016. The 2015 and 2016 should drive the same. I will get the tow package also.
