Oww, I did mine last year, good luck.

Exactly how hard are they????

And why did you replace them? I have been thinking of replacing mine, but what would a sympton be that they need replacing?

I have 170,000 miles on a 91 XLT 4X4. The ride seems stiffer than it should be, or used to be and going over bumps in the road the front seems to shimmy left to right a little.

I am replacing the radius arm bushings so while I have it apart I figured its a good time to do the axle pivots too.......they're tough to do. I'll finish the job up this weekend. Hopefully! 191k here.

Oh Baby, jobs all done, thank god for a 1 1/2" hole saw!

Wow, I have never heard of them being done that way. I replaced all my bushings last year with the Daystars, mainly due to mileage, 180,000 here.

geno, when I was replacing my radius arms I did the axle pivot bushings too. Actually made quite a difference. We used an air chisel to fold in the flaps at the end of the bushing and then forced em out with a hammer. I bet with a press it would've been about a 10-minute job (well once everything wasdisassembled, LOL).

192k here, used the hole saw to remove the rubber from the metal sleeves then slid the daystars in, worked beautifully, no fuss no muss!

I drilled them out, same concept, the macgyver approach.

What is an axel pivot bushing and how do you know if it needs to be replaced? Any symptoms?

Thanks

axle pivot bushings are on first generations, opposite end of axle from wheel, mine had 192k on them.....it was time!
