2013 Explorer Sport Attempting to remove drivers' side cv shaft it popped loose came out about an inch then hung up and won't come out any farther, i have tried slide hammer and pry bars with no success, is it possible the retainer ring is hung up behind the bearing in the transmission? Any help would be appreciated.

Is it bent? Why is it being replaced and is there a chance its damaged? You should feel a pop then it should slide on out. The passenger side is held on with a bracket that bolts to the motor

Not bent, I'm replacing it due to clicking noise when I turn sharp, I had to replace the wheel hub so I figured I'd do both at the same time. It popped loose but only came out an inch or so and moves in and out about a half inch freely but won't come out
