Hi, Im new to the forum, Iv been viewing it for a few weeks, and I posted some pictures of my Explorer, but I have a question. And I hope Im posting it in the right section.

I can get my hands on a Ford 8.8 out of a newer Explorer for pretty cheap. My questions is, is this a direct bolt in? I already know I have to cut the perches and reweld them (mine is SOA, for my lift) but other then that, is there anything else I need to worry about? An yes I already know I have to make sure the gears are the same.

There are a few threads on here about putting in a 2nd gen rear in a 1st gen so you can get disc brakes.

Some say you need to switch the master cylinder, others say you don't.. Otherwise, the only thing I remember is the e-brake..

i also have an axel swap qwestion. i want to do an axel swap for 4.10 gears and would like to know if solid axels flex more and what vehicle i could get one out of that has 4.10 gears, for the front, just whant to do 33's. i mud, mild/moderat off road and light rock crawling if any, live in iowa so mostly mud. any advise for other gears would be nice, not looking to do anything real serious with it just a few inch lift and maybe a body lift.
