back hatch 2000 exp..

how do you get to and fix the back door?? the latch handle is just floppy no tension at all??? can anyone help??? must change out back brake light and need to open the hatch, been broke for 2 years now.... PLEASE HELP ME !!!

You have to removed the inner door panel by popping it off the clips that hold it in place. There are a few screws holding it in near the inner door handle as well.

what rick said. if you cant open it, you still can get the panel off without opening it. its a little tricky, but it can be done. you have to start by gently putting the part that goes around the window away from you. then unscrew the handle from the gate (pull up on it, you will see two screws). pop the cap off right around where the latch for the window is, you will see one more screw. then when you have all that free, grab the entire panel, and lift it upwards to the top of the gate, it should side off.
when you have the panel off, more then likely you will see to rods at the top near where the handle is. grab them both, and at the same time pull both of them inwards. it should open then.
