Backup light install

I haven't actually used it except on firends. Mine are for utility purposes. I agree with you. The last thing I need is bullet holes in my X or in my head. I was just answering the question at hand.

Besides that what if it scares them or blinds them and they run off the road into a lake and drown? I would have a hard time dealing with that!

yea the flashing lights at rear driver probably wouldnt be too cool. I get pissed when there is a car with bright headlights let alone flashing ones (in a backup light case). ok so for anyone not wanting to be a victom of roadrage from the car behind them the wiring diagram i posted should make that imposible to happen unless you decide to drop the tranny and put the explorer in reverse to get them off your bumper. but in that case road rage should be the least of your worries. I have mine wired so that I can turn the aux reverse lights on independently of the stock reverse lights with a switch (to use with pitching the tent or hooking up the boat trailer) and so that they come on when the truck is in reverse (for backing up). I saw no reason to override the lights so they wouldn't come on at all, until I was completely finished the wiring. :rolleyes: Then I realized that I probably would not want to have them on while launching a boat on a less than perfect boat launch. At times, my dad has almost had to launch the truck along with the boat to get the damn thing off the trailer. This might lead to submerging the lights and at worst, blowing the bulbs. I am now trying to figure out a way to wire them so a switch can completely disable them if need be. Might not be important to many of you, but I think that might be handy.
 






good call for the boat situation. My dad and i used to have to do that when we had our ski boat. i would sit in the boat and he would drive back fast then put on brakes before the truck went in too. the bronco bumper was ushally in the water and its a little taller than a explorer bumper. Major
 






It it possible to wire up two switches, one to have them on, and one to disable them when in reverse?

that would be great if you could post a pic or two of the lights installed, i bought the same ones but dont have um on yet...id be great to see what they look like before i put them on. thanks :)
