OK - I tried searching to see if I could find the answer somewhere else in the forum, and didn't see anything obvious. So, I call upon the awesome collective knowledge of the forum. :)

My backup lights don't come on. I started by disassembling the tail lights and discovered both sockets were terribly corroded. So I bought a new one (just one for now) and installed it with a fresh bulb. Same thing.

They're on the same wiring harness as the breaks and running lights, which DO work, so at this point I'm thinking it must be a fuse (duh, should have checked for that first, right?). But that's not it, either. All fuses are intact and none are missing.

So, at this point the only other thing I can think of it the sensor in the transmission (M5OD manual). Trouble is, I have no idea where to look for that, or if there are other things that could be causing the problem?

I would use a test light or volt meter to see if you are getting voltage to the light bulb when the trans is in reverse. If no voltage then it probably is the switch. I have had to replace mine before.

It is a small 2 wire plug that threads into the side of the transmission and is easy to replace. Hope this helps!

Does this sensor have an official name? I'm having difficulty looking it up online.

That doesn't look right. It looks like this:

Local auto part stores should have it in stock.

Sounds like I just need to crawl under there and take it out and run it down to the O'Reilly's, then...

Thanks, Brian.
