Hey ... Problem ( a ) vehicle has 204,000kms. All regular maintenance was done.

Recently the coolant is slowly diminishing (not badly) I was told from the dealer there might be a cracked cylinder wall (between the valves) its on the cylinder on the passenger side at the back of the motor near the firewall.

It runs slightly okay up to about 60kms... then it starts bogging down and up near 80-100kms it shakes horribly and the check engine light flashes indicating misfire. ive changed plugs and wires. Some guy told me its because im using aftermarket plugs and wires???

Fuel pump was replaced at the dealer 3-4 months ago. I just put a K&N cone in last night... the 0 - 60kms shift smoother now as the engine can probably actually breathe now.

As well from time to time when I start it it sits idling rough at like 200-300rpm (or so it looks anyways) and when you rev it a bit it goes up then comes down low and stalls. After letting it sit for like an undisclosed amount of time it will start again. Sometimes over revving it will make it come out of that rough idle state. The guy at the dealership told me it might be winter gas (back in apr-may) Im like wtf? That sounds like the biggest crock of bs! Turns out your safeway going to a dealer as a last resort isnt even worth it nowadays!

Its going through gas really badly now because of the misfire and you can smell raw fuel form time to time.

Does anyone have any clues? Im thinking about swapping the motor out for another one - I dont want to get rid of it as we just put a brand new tranny and transfer case and torque converter put in still under warranty and its pretty much immaculate and in good condition (minus the rust on the running boards)

Okay it sounds like you have a few issues.

First off is the carpet wet under the passenger feet?

Second is the check engine light on when this is happening?

It is possible your coolant is getting into the combustion chamber through a cracked head, etc. It could also be a leaking heater core.
Is the engine oil milky?
A compression test would help determine if the cyl is bad.

However it could be so many other things.

Did the truck ever overheat?

97 explorer same problem as yours

my truck has 260.000 miles on it , less than a year ago i had purchased it via ebay at the time it seemed to be a great buy. a few weeks after i bought it we noticed that the coolant in the reserve tank was slowly disapearing just after 4-days . so at this point we had made the investment '' we are stuck with it'' so every few days we will add some water and move on. but we noticed that within the last few days it has redused to almost every day until my friend recommended for me to try leak sealant that might work to glog what ever crack or opening it might have after i filled the radiator with this stuff the next following day all hell broke lose at of no where am driving everything normal and all of the sudden the engine started shaking and the check engine light came on steady for about 3-mins and then started to blink .
that same way i took it home not letting go of the gas pedal completely because it will stall . now i have a big problem i say to my self trying to think of the cause ''funny thing is just 2-weeks prior i changed the plugs and wires"
so 2-days after i take it to autozone which one of the guys was kind enough
to perform a computer code test after he was done he gave me a small list of problems that are as follows : mass air flow input is lower than exspected
lack of ho2s21 switch - sensor indicates rich
the fuel system for bank 1 was to lean
misfire accurred in cylinder #2
misfire accurred in cylinder #3
misfire accurred in cylinder #4
misfire accurred in cylinder #5
misfire accurred in cylinder #6
so i said to my self maybe the fluid in the coolant or maybe the plugs were defective , so i purchased a new set and installed them and it seemed it got a little better but still have the engine shaking. when i look at the plugs that i removed i noticed that they were missing the center pin like it was worn down.

well botton line i have this truck with a problem that i do not know what the hell could be wrong with it ?
