My girlfriend has a 98 Ranger with a 3.0 L. The check engine light came on the day she got it so we went to Auto Zone to check it out. The results came back and it said one of the O2 sensors are bad. A few weeks ago her parents went out of town so we had to house sit the house. That friday we had to do a couple of around town. This was the longest the truck has ran and it was close to 100 degrees outside. We was at the bank and her truck started idling really rough and died. It stared right back up and after a couple of minutes it started running rough and died again. So we went to Auto Zone again to see if the codes changed which it didn't. So we had to hurry to go to subway out of town to pick her check. While we was driving it would run rough but it wouldn't die. My girlfriend called her parents which don't really know **** about cars (excuse my language) and they said to put fuel cleaner in her truck. After she did that it made the truck even worse. The truck wouldn't stay running for longer than two minutes. So I had to drive her truck 10 miles while it wouldn't stay running very long. We let her truck cool off for a couple of hours before we left again. After we did that it run better.

Her parents said she needs to get a tune up and that will fix the problem but I don't think so. So i deiced to post the story on here to see what you guys think.

its not the O2 sensors probably. thats usualy like saying your thermometer is bad when its hot out..its just a guage...usually

when I got the codes - you should get exact codes when told - it said I had bad O2's and they wanted to replace them. Thanks to this here board, I found out it was the intake gaskets $25 plus my labor vs $600 of their O2 sensor repair which wouldnt have fixed the problem

Alright I'll get the exact codes
