ive been having an oil leak problem for some time now since i did the oom12.

the oil has been collecting on the top of the right bank around the lower inlet manifold. I have re-checked the chain tensioner and also the galley plug which where both replaced during the upgrade. The oil does not seem to be leaking from them. I have also checked the rocker cover and replaced it to see if it is leaking from there. It is only gathering on the right bank and there is no oil on the left bank atall! can anyone help me as to what it could be its causing me no end of problems. The whole front of the engine is now covered in oil and also the exhaust manifold too so i smoke like a fire when i go more than a mile down the road and also i leave pools of oil everywhere.

I have covered the galley plug with sealant on the last attempt of fixing it but after running the engine for more than 5mins the was yet more oil on the top of the right bank!

Please someone help as im soon gonna throw the thing in the bin and have done with it

Thanks Phil

I suppose you have thought of this already, but you could degrease the leak covered area with the spray degreaser. Then while having the engine area well lite (take off the splash cover to get more light into the engine bay), have someone else start the car and then hopefully you should be able to see where the oil is coming from.

yeah ive tried but its near impossible to find because the inlet manifold hides where it is leaking from. the oil is covering all the front of the bloke and the back as it seeps down onto the exhuast manifold. its most definatly comming from the front somwhere up near the rocker cover/chain tensioner area and its haappened since ive done the fix so i have disturbed something for sure but i cannot work out what.

ok more inspection today and the sealant around the galley plug looks dry and also around the chain tensioner looks dry but behind this ontop of the cylinder head block there is oil still pooling right near the fuel rail.

does anyone know where it could be appearing from i think i am looking at having to buy a new cylinder head and changing that to cure the problem. Or worst still a new engine but the engine is a wonderfull runner.

leaking too!

i am having the same trouble. I have even tried JB weld around the tensioner bolt and still have small leak. Driving me crazy!
Do you think having the oil restricter in could cause leak? just asking.

i fixed it ages ago

it was the o ring thst needed replacing get a new/better one and fit that it workd for me

o ring?

sorry to bother you, do you mean the washer on the tensioner or something else?
