Bad paint

My black '99 Sport has tiny cracks peppered all over the hood and sides. It looks like absolute crap. Is there a recall or anything on this? If anyone can help me in any way it would be great. Kinda sucks to be paying out my ass for this truck to have such crappy paint.

if you have any warranty left, you could give that a try. ihad some of my one car repainted under warranty but it wasnt the whole car. good luck man

Damn, no warranty. I'm gonna contact Ford and complain very very loudly about this s**t...

The truck is 4 years old, you have to expect some deterioration. Try putting a couple coats of Liquid Glass polish on. It gives the paint a "candy apple" finish by sealing the paint. It does wonders for your truck. Oh yeah, its a little pricey... ie $17 for 8 oz. jug

I can accept and understand chips and fading but definately defective paint. And this is definately defective. I'm not gonna waste my $$ on polishes and stuff like that. It needs sandpaper and new paint...

Dunno how to post pics. But there are thousands of cracks about a centimeter long, checkered all over the hood. Very ugly.

that sux man. i feel for ya. i also hate chipping in extra $ when i'm still paying on it. i do have a warranty, but not through ford and does not cover paint so i hope mine doesn't start to do that. i take real good care of it though.

i've called the ford 1800 number and mentioned the chiped paint on my 97 x ....they can really play dumb on this issue ...i told them i'm not the only one to complain but they swear up and down that theyve never heard of the problem....

I have the same problem with the paint on the hood of my 98 Ex. let me know if FORD does anything about it.
