Rear tailgate paint

The black section of my tailgate is fading on one side. Is this painted? Almost looks like it's a sticker like between the doors (4DR model)

I assume it's common. Is it any easy/inexpensive fix or time for paint?

painted mine with a rattle can. sand with 200-ish grit paper, tape off/mask all areas, and spray away. i used flat black, and they look brand new.

and yes, im pretty sure its some kind of painted sticker. ive looked at it, and it looks like a b!tch to get off.
