well i was doing my homework tonight, and got a call someone collect. i didnt know them so i hung up, they called back and left a message. well i checked the message 10 min later and it said 'go look at your car'. i walk outside, and see a fire extinguisher in the middle of the road. i walk around my truck to find the someone thought it would be cute to spray a layer all over. the entire side was brown, and its normally black. now this by itsself woulnt be so bad, but i had my windows open about an inch, and i looked thru my drivers window, and couldnt see in. upon opening the door i found that the entire drivers side was covered with the dust, and everywhere else had a layer too.
now, i vacuumed as much out as i could and used a damp rag on it, but that was about 10 min after it had been done. and theres still just a little left in certain places, but ill have to get it tomorrow. so, does anyone think that like the chemicals in the stuff or something could stain the seats (theyre cloth) or cause some other damage in that amnt of time?

they shouldnt, it depends on what agents they used, do you have the bottle? look at the sticker... and report it to the police as vandalism, they may dust it for prints....
most agents in fire extinguishers wont mess things up.... type a is basically water, type b is stuff for gas, type c is stuff for electrical, which becomes an a/b if the electricity is cut off and then there is type d which is for combustible metals... that d may pose a hazard, but it isnt likely, as type d isnt easy to get and its a wierd one.... then there is foam, normally used on type a/b that is basically water and soap..... co2 is a major player in some of them, as is baking soda like substance, believe it or not.....

If it was a dry chemical type extinguisher (which it sounds like it is) is possible it can stain the carpet in your truck.

most of the dry chemicals are relatively harmless.....

just a pain

I used to work for a fire extingusher co. power is harmless just try not to get it wet makes it a real pain in the ass to get out of what ever fabric it is oh also tastes like sh*t. once you vaccume the hell out of it then just get seats cleaned.

my job is Fire extinguishers....here is the skinny.. if the F.E. was an "abc", while it is true that dry chem. is relativitly harmless, an abc type ex. is EXTREMELY CORROSIVE!!! so...if it has gotten on your paint and metal parts..clean them off very very well and it prolly wouldn't hurt to wax it after the fact...because in my state, New York, they use salt on the roads like they are giant french fries....and that is also a corrosive agent, I wash my X EVERYDAY..obsessive? yes, but I love my X and have to combat the corrosive nature of the new york raodways...if the F.E. is a Co2 then you have no worries .... hope that helped...cya

Man, you really got some good and authoritave answers on that question.

yea thanks a lot for the help guys. it looks like it didnt harm anything, but now whever i close my door i get a nice burst of dust in my face. i plan on getting the people who did it to me back this weekend, since i found out who it was today.

what ya doign to do?

egg the inside of there car or what?

BTW, that's the worst! and the outside of my X has already been egges twice! i think there gelious that i got a nice car then the ppl doing it!

Question for the Fire Ex professionals

I live in FL and I was wondering it is safe for leaving a fire ex in a vehicle?? I am thinking if they are under pressure, can they effect the performance, explode, etc in my hot truck all summer long?

It is safe to leave fire extinquishers in the truck. Have always carried one, never had a problem.

I too am in the Sunshine State and have always carried an exth ( many, many years (.

You should ne fine.

Good luck.....

Personally I would discourage any retaliation or revenge. Then they'll just retaliate back on you worse and it will just mushroom from there. Some one could end up really hurt.
Yeah, it takes a total ass to mess with someones vehicle, and it is flat out wrong to do.
Be the bigger person and get on with life.

retaliation

I two am personally against retailiation but I know of one thing that would really piss someone off. Get a can of the sprayable foam and spray it into someone's tailpipe. Once that stuff hardens, it'll be a PITA to remove especially if you should it deep into the pipes.

You live near me Blee, I need to stay on your good side.

No, I would never do that to someone. I know from experience how much of a PITA it is to remove it. I had a CJ7 about 5 years ago and someone did that to me. Definately the worst thing you could do someone. I had to get the tailpipe and muffler replaced. I still never found out who did it, to this day I would have loved to know who it was.
