If I stay idle at a red light, and then it turns green...I accelerate, but I dont go anywhere...my engine jus revs.
But then all of a sudden it goes! Yippee!!! And some times when I slow down around turns and give it gas...the acceleration is delayed.

Is my tranny going...?

If so, how much for a new one, should I even bother?

It has 69k miles and runs pretty good besides that.

Oh, and I prolly wont want the same brand of tranny I got, cause I hear they suck and break easy...So whats a good brand and for how much?

Yeah it sounds like you have a slipping trans. Make sure your fluid is toped off and it loks bright red. Most manufactures want you to change the fluid every 30k. You could have something pluged in the valve body cusing the poor shifting. One other thing to check. Make sure the vaccum going to the trans is good. This is what controls the shifting. Might need a new vaccum modulator that just bolts on the trans.

If you need a new tranny...I hear Jasper makes a nice unit. Better then the Ford ones anyway...lol.
But if you want the tranny to last longest, either replace it with a jasper or a ford factory rebuild...not a dealer rebuild.

I had similar systems on mine. I had to have the tranny rebuilt this past Tuesday. Here’s what I was told, tranny was not down shifting into first when I came to a stop this caused the hard take off(had to rev up in 2nd gear) The reason for this was that the clutches in the torque converter failed necessitating a rebuilt.

WOW!...was ir worth it!? I still ower about 4k on my loan for my truck, everything keeps falling apart after i get the next thing fixed. Im thinking about selling it and getting a wrangler .
