I have a question that maybe some of you could answer for me??? I have a 92 Explorer XL 4x4 and I have a sever vibration on when I accelerate, once I let off the gas it goes away for the most part. Now I have just replaced shocks, tires and had an alignment. I took it to the dealer and they can't seem to find the problem. I'm at a loss as to the problem, and hate to start trial-and-error repairing as that can get very expensive. It's bad enough I just replaced the 4WD, Air conditioning, and had it repainted less than a 1yr. It will soon need a trans as the forward gears are slipping to the point of it take almost 2 min to get moving in drive. And I have a nasty tick, but was told that was a colapsed lifter, which is a lil hard to believe.....Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated, as I am at a loss..........Thanks in advance!!

It sounds like the motor mounts are shot. If the vibration is coming from the back, it's prob. the U-Joints. The ticking is the lifters, which is a common problem. My lifters were replaced(thank god the previous owner did it). It seems like it's going to cost a lot to get everything fixed. 2000 for a tranny, 300 for the mounts and maybe 400-500 for the lifters.

Motor mounts are easy to check, crawl under the car and at each lower corner there is the mount, if the pin is popped up they are shot and should get replaced ASAP, if the pins are still flat with the rubber then they are ok.

it could be your wheel bearing when they start to go u will notice a bit of vibration in between certain speeds mine did it between 55 and 65. I would recommend getting your hub assembly checked out
