Hi Guys, I was just talking to a buddy about the lack of travel when I use my 2.5" strut spacer. He said would a ball joint spacer work to bring everything back to factory angles.

I just quickly googled them, what do you think would adding a ball joint spacer bring everything back into allignment?

bump and subscribing...

my guess is not many guys here have experience with ball joint spacers as its been a couple months since I posted.

Any luck

Hey did u ever try them? And if so where did u get them? I'm having the same problem with camber issues. Thanks

Older thread...

I can picture how it would work, but I would be concerend about the added stress because of the spacer. It seems like a lose lose situation to me...

New control arms with a lower positioned ball joint would be the safest and smartest way to go about it.

I agree. ^^^

is there a specific set of controll arms you are talking about?
does it just put the ball joint lower?

I think he's just talking about a way to bring the upper ball joint down lower to the knuckle so it's not already under stress when the truck is just sitting there. It would also flatten out the angle of the upper control arm.

I don't think there's any practical or safe way to do this though.

Best solution is probably going to be longer upper control arms made of DOB steel tube and uniballs instead of ball joints.

Hopefully we see a design for that coming out soon from BTF. I haven't had any problems yet with my setup though....so I might just stick with the limit strap idea. Won't fix the angles but it will keep the front spindles from hitting the springs.

It's a bit pricey but looks like the whole deal uppers lowers etc can even get wilwood brake kit...btf should order one make a copy and return it Haha.. 3k is too much 4 with brakes

The 2nd gens are a bit different from 3rd gens, I dont think their years are too accurate...

(91-94,
95-01 *And 01-03 sport*,
02-05,
06-10,
11-??)

IT says 01-06 ranger edge / explorer

maybe santa will bring me the entry level 6.0 lift .... wow i can only imagine what our x's would look like ... but is that really possible with the extreme angles already in the suspension (as in cv shafts)

I'm tempted to call and see if we can just get upper control arms maybe even a group purchase to make the deal more tempting for them

thats not a bad idea ... especially since it seems that they do everything in house

if we did that we would also have to get new knuckles ... look how the ranger knuckles look up top (not a vertical hole for the ball joint)

If you look at the Entry Level 6.0 kit picture, you'll see that it's the right hand (passenger) side of the suspension based on the way the exhaust manifold is facing. Look in the bottom left corner, and you can just make out the torsion bar going into the lower control arm. This kit is for the Ranger/Edge/Explorer Sport Trac models, with the front torsion bars, not our Explorers with the strut type suspension. Sorry guys, I was excited too!

Do it mate! I sent an email off the other day so the more the merrier. Alot of money to be made from us 3rd genner's.

Email sent keep your fingers crossed...... told them we would most likely order up to a dozen sets..if they are willing

I am not referring to a specific set of arms because I do not know of any in production for a 3rd gen Explorer.

I am referring to a 100% aftermarket arm that will place the ball joint and associated components to factory specs;)
