Hi there so I got some issues with my X. I just replaced the fuel pump with a custom one, prob is now its doing the same thing as the old one did after running good for 200 miles. But unlike the last time I now got some DTC's, they were P1131, P1151. Any idea's there guys?

what's the original issue? link to thread?

P1131 Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch - Sensor Indicates Lean - Bank No. 1

P1151 Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch - Sensor Indicates Lean - Bank No. 2

all cylinders are running lean...

my guess is there's something floating in your tank clogging up your pumps

might be time to clean out the tank and look into replacing it or using one of those restoration coatings

FPR maybe?
fuel filter been replaced? although that would usually cause a vehicle to just die of fuel starvation until the sediment has time to fall back to the bottom of the filter.

nothing in the tank I just installed new fuel pump and it looked shiny and new on the inside. I was also thinking FPR or faulty fuel pump from ebay.. Might just replace FPR what are they worth? Maybe that was the prob to begin with?

a good possibility it's been the FPR.
Most times a bad fuel pump just fails to run, or cuts out.

FPR's I believe are relatively cheap.

this may have been covered.. but i assume you already replaced the fuel filter..... right?

i know i replaced a fuel pump once and was pissed when it still didn't run right (on a volvo) then later it turned out to just be the filter.. how did i miss that?

Closed loop switching

When the PCM is operating in closed loop it cycles the air/fuel ratio from rich to lean at a continuous rate. The PCM is unable to achieve the required rich condition. Since it is happening in both banks it is probably not due to your fuel injectors or O2 sensors. My guess is low output fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, or faulty fuel pressure regulator. I suggest that you perform a fuel pressure test before buying or replacing anything else. There is a link to one in "My Helpful Threads" (see signature).

Thanks for the help guys think I am gonna replace the FPR its the one thing that I have not replaced yet. I have however done the fuel filter once before i did the fuel pump and then again once after. So I doubt that is the prob. Where is the FPR located on the 4.0 OHV?

i would get rid of the custom pump and put a stock one in.

it's not going to give you any advantage or power. just keep the stock one. it was designed to run in your car.

While I will agree that OEM pumps are usually the best route....

but if the issue isn't and wasn't the fuel pump, there is absolutely no reason to change it again.
he already changed it once, and the issue persists.

Since it appears to be the same issue, neither the old pump nor the new pump are bad, and there is absolutely no point in doing that job for a 2nd time.

I plan on turbo charging this truck in the next year so like gavin said why do it twice? Now I will just have to redo the regulator again later thats all.. no big deal there.. Got the FPR changed and so far no issues.. Gonna take it on a longer drive later tonight just t make sure.. What do some of you guys pay for an FPR? Mine was $135 at NAPA up here in Canada.. I think I got bent over for it.. I thought it was gonna be like $40..

Well gonna open it up once more and note that I had all the same issues as before. The NEW custom fuel pump died. I got a junk yard replacement for $50 with 90 day warranty. Ahh well you live you learn. Don't get fuel pumps from ebay..

ouch... that's why I try to get them locally ;) although, there always is that chance (even it is ever so slight) that a new part can fail.

just for curiosity, what brand was that one?

It was suppose to be a Walbro 255 LPM.. But it was so loud I could not even hear myself think, it had the worst high pitch whine to it. Even with my stereo on full blast it was still like nails on a chalk board. But now I got a factory one back in and its quiet as can be!

possibly useless info but.....

If your from canada and you can still use the stock 4.0 front end parts on "e-bay" ya I know E-bay.... but this guy is in canada and you can get all front end parts"upper control arms w/balljoint, lower balljoints inner and outer tie rods and stab links for like 180 shipping incl, he's in thornhill On but he is on e-bay I think it's called "sales hut" just to let you know. Oh yeah and all parts have grease fittings :)
