We have replaced the battery and alternator on our 2000 Explorer and for about a week it fixed our problem. We lost power while driving so we got a new battery and took it to the shop the next day. They replaced the alternator and everything was fine for about a week. During that week my husband replaced the thermostat because it ran hot one evening. Then the Explorer lost power again while driving. We had the battery tested and fully charged so we could take it to the shop but didn't get 3 miles before the battery was dead again. We are thinking about taking it to Ford and paying to have a diagnostic run? Any suggestions what we should do next?

...for a inexspensive fix and it seems pretty common, replace the positive and negative battery cables...i would also swap in another battery...if you were not running lights it should be able to run on it's own...;)
