Battery/Alternator issue? Help.

Is the breather really nessicary?
I've seen that some people put a little breather filter on the oil tube and seal up the hole in the intake tube??

I have the intake tube plugged on mine and a filter in the valve cover ( mine is a SOHV 4.0 though ).

Never had any problems with this setup. The major difference noted is the TB is much cleaner.

I found oil in my air tube from that breather tube.. I didn't like that at all.. I think it was aldive who sealed the hole up, and put a breather filter.. and said it idled better and something else..

Edit: Beat me to it Aldive..

So am I going about this the wrong way?

What about all that oil that I found in the intake? That can't be good to have happening... Doesn't keep the TB clean either as Aldive said.....

Logically to me, it would be better for the oil to have it's own thing for getting air and letting air out.. instead of stealing it from the engine? And spitting oil into the intake... am I missing something?

On a side note, the AC line is gonna be a pita to get around.. But I think it's do able.

Anyone have anything to say about this? Do I have a point or am I missing something very important?

Nope, I'm stuck.. these bolts just will Not budge.. at all... (the 3 bolts holding the f***er in).. ugh

this is pissin me off...

Any ideas? (with pictures? =P )

There's not too much room to work with here.. What should I use? A ratchet barely has enough space..

Used a hammer to hit the end of the ratchet, it worked for the bolt on the right side.. the two on the left side... I'm stuck again...lol... I don't have much room at all.. even with the hammer...

Put the appropriate socket on a breaker bar and use a "cheaper pipe" on the breaker bar. That should do the trick.

I don't have a breaker bar... I woulda used it a long time ago..

>.< Arg... any other cheap tricks you know of?

Not to sound discourteous, but, you need to acquire some tools if you want to continue to work on your truck.

Without the proper tools, you are setting yourself up for a disaster.

I knowww........ =' (

crap....

Do spray the three alternator bolts with a penetrant first. Those go into an aluminum bracket and often are very tight. You only need a tool for the belt, the main power wire, and the three bolts, plus the battery.

Did you do this? How long did you let it set before trying to remove the bolts?

I didn't have anything, I got them out though.. but ran out of light... lol.. no flash lights or anything around.... (Don't even say it aldive... lol I know...)
I'll finish up tomorrow, should be a good 10 above too.

I guess the issue now is, what kinda side effects would come up by sealing the breather hole in the air intake tube.. and putting a breather filter (or leaving it open) on the oil pipe..?

Alright, the alternator is in.

Voltage while the truck is off is 13v for some reason, when I fire it up.. I've got 15v... It's running fine though.. battery gauge reads normal while it's running, a little low while it's off..

I sealed the intake hole for now, and the breather tube is just sitting there..
