Battery or Electrical problems?

It's funny, I just noticed my join date of 12/17/06...nearly 2 years to the day is when I found this forum asking for help! I need more help!

I went to start the Explorer up today and heard a loud click. Nothing. The THEFT light on the dash is going crazy clicking away. Other than that, nothing. My hubby has the battery charger on right now assuming it's that. Still won't start, however all the lights bells and whistles work fine.

Of course the Explorer is pulled into the garage, can't put it in neutral, and the van won't fit in the garage.

I've had some electrical issues in the past, could this be it? Or should I have hubby's buddy come pick us up and buy a battery before everything is closed on a Sunday night?

If anyone can help, thanks!

The battery is easy to pull out and take to autozone for testing. Its a good place to start and they are usually honest about it.

theft light

do you have an anti theft system? is there a possibility the fuse went on it? on my 97 I had thsi same problem. Luckily there was a kill switch I could hold in while I started it. I checked the fuse and it was shot so I replaced and it worked perfectly and started perfectly. Just an idea.
