I know they discontinued production a while ago but on several websites brothersperformance and sfx they still have them for sale...

Can anyone shed light on this, also they have them listed for up to 97 why is that.

Would be great to find a used one. My Explorer GT isn't worth as much as they want for the kit

Most online stores aren't up to date. Chances are they have them listed with the idea it can be ordered from BBK. Call to confirm.
Truck performance did this to me. Waited for 2 months for an item that said was back ordered only to contact the manufactor & find out it was discontunied. Truck performance had no clue.

What is an Explorer GT anyhow? I've been into Explorers since '93 (I'm on my 3rd) and never heard of it before. Just XL/XLT/Sport/Eddie (including the 2 door version) and Limited.

What makes your Explorer a "GT"?

Haha! I'm just messin. It's a '92 4 door XL. I got into the performance image because it's got the 5 speed manual and is 4x2

Got any pics? It must be sweet if you've got a '92 in for winter storage!

FYI, here's the history on most of the generations.

Couldn't find the "GT" for the life of me and I've seen you call it as such many times. My first Ex was a '93 Sport, factory ordered. I loved it for the few months I drove it. Moved away for a few years and had to put it in storage. A friend bought it with very low miles and then proceeded to run it into the ground. Turned out to be a bit of a lemon unfortunately.

Well, it isn't perfect. Has like 158k miles and came with some dents on the driver's side. I still need a new hood from when that BMW X5 pulled out in front of me like 1.5 years ago.

The 4x2 gets nowhere in Michigan winters, but I store it because the underbody is RUST FREE. Carfax says it's from Texas (I bought it in PA). No rocker or dog leg rust whatsoever.

Note also that I paid $300 cash for it. Drove it off the lot. It ran good but the M5OD had a blown overdrive (popped out), the interior was smoked in (which I don't like) and was really dirty. The body's fine with no significant damage. The American Racing Rebels were worth the $300. Also, the oil pressure gauge wasn't reading anything (which is probably why the car lot wanted to let go of it). The sending unit wire got too close to the manifold so it shorted out/broke. I fixed that and oil pressure is fine. I replaced the tranny with a good used one and did the clutch and all when I had it out. New tires, tons of interior cleaning, some audio work, fluid change, wash/wax, and I've got a pretty good looking truck. I plan on keeping it a long while cuz it's a good truck and is pretty simple with not much to go wrong with it.

The motor uses a bit of oil but doesn't smoke and has as much power as it should. I'd like to experiment with swapping in an SOHC...

It would be awesome to find a '93 dark blue 4 door Eddie 4x4 manual with like no miles in a barn somewhere for cheap :D

And oh yeah, I've got the 4.0 emblems
