i did a little off roading yesterday with a couple buddies with my 97 AWD V8 X but i wouldnt go too far because it started to weird me out.

hes the situation.

theres this one section where the an incline in the trail and the it goes right back up, not too steep, i know the X could handle that, BUT, its chock full of mud, im not sure how deep but i refused to go over it.

maybe later this week ill take pics so you can see for yourselves.

any hints or suggestions, should i just go for it and hope for the best?

how far have you guys pushed your stock X's? how far can i push mine ;)

on the evening of the 22nd I went playing in the new snow. There was approx 14" on the ground and it wasn't having much problems going through it.

Then on the 23rd I went playing in the mud. In the real slippery stuff it was basically helpless with the stock Wilderness AT's just spinning. In the less sticky mud it was doing decent, where it could get traction.

I found a muddy road with some water on it, one puddle was about 30' across and I didn't know how deep it was. Going across it the 1st time the mud/water was close to the top of the drivers fender and I came VERY close to getting stuck. On the way back, I hit it about 25 mph, and got mud/water over the top of the hood, with a water mark 3/4 of the way up the hood and the passengers fender completely covered in water/mud. The entire engine bay was muddy(still need to finish cleaing it out)

wow C5, thanks a lot, you just convinced me to go for it with the mud.

as i said, im not sure how deep the mud is, but i doubt highly that it was as deep as the mud you were going through.

i say to hell with it, im doin it!

and if i get stuck ill have my buddy with his jacked up 350 conversion CJ jeep with big ass swampers on it! hehe!

thanks again, ill probely go this friday, il tell ya of the outcome!

oh btw;

your X is bone stock 4 x 4 wise, like no lift or bigger tires, right?

For me I have the XLT Sport package with trailer tow... this includes the 255/70/16" tires and 4.10 gears with rear limited slip..
