Bedlining The Exterior of my ex

I'm about to do my interior and I wire wheeled it to spare myself the hand cramp of scotchbrite padding the whole thing. Wire wheel result too smooth?

btimm86: When your done could you post some pics of the interior? I would like to do that to my soon to be explorer as well, I'm interested in what it looks like.

Also, here are the instructions directly from Herculiner:

http://www.herculiner.com/images/bedliner_install_english.pdf

They are for a truck bed, but I'm sure the same rules apply for all areas of aplication.

yeah man 5 coats easy. Don't you want to be able to wack it with a bfh? I'll get some pics when i'm finished

alright just makin sure thats what you meant. i've never worked with this stuff so its all new to me. how long does it take to dry?

It dries to a tack fairly quick. I'd give it a full day before driving. The more you roll on the better it will look, and the tougher it will be.

I did the whole thing, took a gallon and a half.

Pic before the new wheels.

I need more details on this, what type did you use? How did you get it to not have that texture bumpy stuff on it? This looks great, I want to do it. But I need details. How much was it in total for supplies? I'm probably going to get a body shop to do it, who knows. Is it paint or bed liner?

If you use a regular roller head the liner will have a much smoother texture. Spray in's like Line X can be sprayed pretty smooth. Having a pro Line X it is probably the about equal to a cheap paint job.

So I shouldn't do it? It looks nice to me, it's just not shiny. Idk... his truck looks badass with the 'paint' and rims.

I didn't say you shouldn't do it. I just said that the texture can be controlled, and having someone do it for you is expensive. It's also tough to clean. If you UV topcoat it, it will stay more shiny. It's certainly something you could do yourself in a weekend, or one really long day.

Sigh, I had been wanting to do just the lower half of the truck, with the bumper plastic. [took off my running boards, want to cover holes] But then again, I've always wanted a black X... I figured if I paid for a couple gallons of bed liner, I'd just have to pay for labor... what a few hours maybe???...... It would be a lot cheaper, but I could be wrong. I don't know..... I wouldn't wanna screw something up, this could go wrong real quick. I can do small things, like my grill and the bumpers... but when it comes to the body... I'd prefer to have someone else do it.
